Business and side hustle financeLesson01 of 10

Earning on the side

A side hustle is any way you turn a skill or spare time into extra income on top of your main source of money. It can be as simple as selling snacks to officemates, doing graphic design at night, or reselling items online during weekends.

The best side hustles usually start with something you already know how to do or already own. You don't need a big idea or a lot of capital to begin, just a skill someone else is willing to pay for and a bit of consistent effort.

The goal at this stage is to start small and learn as you go. A side hustle is a low-risk way to test whether people will actually pay for what you offer before you invest serious time or money into it.

A call center agent who bakes on weekends starts selling brownies to coworkers for ₱50 each. With almost no startup cost, they earn an extra ₱2,000 a month from something they already enjoy doing.
