What makes a stock a "growth stock"?

A growth stock is a share in a company expected to expand its revenue and earnings meaningfully faster than the average business, often by opening new locations, launching new products, entering new markets, or riding a rapidly growing industry. Where a mature company might grow sales by a few percent a year, a genuine growth company might grow them 20%, 30%, or more, year after year.
