What long-term care actually means
Long-term care is the ongoing help someone needs with everyday activities, bathing, dressing, eating, moving around, or managing medication, once age, illness, or injury makes doing those things alone unsafe or impossible. Care professionals often call these activities of daily living, or ADLs, and needing help with two or more of them is commonly used as the trigger for benefits under formal long-term care products elsewhere in the world, a threshold worth knowing even though, as later lessons explain, dedicated products using that exact trigger are still rare in the Philippines. It's different from a hospital stay meant to treat and discharge you. Long-term care can stretch on for months or years, and for some people it becomes permanent.
